No, that’s not the name of porn Captain Yar starred in. Awhile back I did a tribute to two of the most popular arcade games of the early 90′s. Now I’d like to highlight a game that was not nearly as popular. In fact, I might be the only other person who has ever heard of it. We are talking about Lucky And Wild.
This game was briefly in the movie theater lobby at my local mall circa 1997. I played it once on a whim after a movie. I was so floored that I went back the next week with a friend and $10 in quarters so I could make that game my bitch. Good thing too, because a few months later it disappeared as eerily as it had arrived. I feel as if at some point later in my life I was lucky enough to play it at a random mall in a different state while on vacation. That memory could also have been completely fabricated due to intravenous drug use.
What could possibly draw a young Captain Flintheart to such a game? It combines two of the best arcade dynamics, driving games and gun games. The first player gets to drive and both players get a secured in place hand gun. It’s similar to Chase HQ or any of those other cop car games where you smash the shit out of your enemy’s car. Pure and simple, but Goddamn that shit is fun.
I really don’t have too much more to say, I just wanted to bring this game back to your attention and make you look at these drink serving bar back whores.
