I don’t believe it, but I’ve never seen anyone as happy as this guy to have his pic taken with a ridiculous shirt on. Also, if you are a gas station company and your name is Kum & Go, wouldn’t you consider switching it up to maybe Go & Kum or something else similar. Just throwing it out there.
December 12, 2012 is a date that has people scratching your heads. According to ancient Mayan calendars, that is the end of the world as we know it. (Cut it out R.E.M.) Who the bloody hell knows what is going to happen when that date comes around. Will people all over the world go bonkers thinking, “Oh my God, the world is going to end!?” Maybe. Just maybe.
The only true person who knows what happens on that day is John Cusack. As we have seen in the film, 2012, he gets into several near death experiences while the world is ending but somehow miraculously escapes them all and as we’ve seen in Hot Tub Time Machine, he can travel through time. So what better person to ask than John Cusack himself. After several attempts to call, one black eye from his security guard and a restraining order against TCM we are unable to truly find out what will happen. So, we will turn to the next best thing; figuring this shit out for ourselves.
We sat down one Sunday afternoon over some tea and biscuits and had a very intellectual conversation about how we think the world will end in 2012. It was surprising enough with what we came up with even though no one walked away with any broken bones as that’s usually what happens during one of our “discussions”. So sit back, grab a bag of beer and a can of chips and ponder how your semi-awesome life will end. Hell, who knows one of these could actually be the Earth’s fate.
Let me start by saying that Flintheart is not a big Prince fan. I respect him, but i’m not into his music. As most people know in 1993 he changed his name from Prince to an unpronounceable symbol (the “love symbol” which was a combination of the male and female symbols).
It was big news back than, but since every media outlet began referring to him as “the artist formerly known as Prince” my young self didn’t understand what was happening. I thought he had changed his name to, “The Artist”.
In retrospect as I thought about this as an adult I realized how much of an amazing fuck you move this was. The man changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol! Clearly he thought the media would be flustered discussing him and would have to print the symbol on the page or show it on tv when discussing him. This all backfired though with the artist formerly known as Prince bullshit.
TCM would still like to commend Prince for trying something so ridiculous and absurd.
Did anyone know there’s an Ultimate Frisbee league? I didn’t. But, I’m quite okay with that if I get to see ridiculous shit like this every once in a while…

I’ve never been more pleased to introduce a new segment on TCM than I am today. What we have here is, Leroy. Leroy is a persona invented for prank calls and exclusive to The Captains Memos. In this particular case it involves a credit card company trying to track down its client to pay back his amassed debt. Except when they call his phone number, they get Leroy instead…

A reader of this blog (who will go unmentioned) told me that they never really watched any Chris Farley movies growing up nor did they think he was funny. Blasphemy. Farley to me was a god growing up. His SNL clips and bit parts in movies were downright hilarious. While Will Ferrell has taken over for Farley after his untimely, stripper and coke-binged death in 1997, I feel like the man isn’t getting his due anymore. TCM is going to fix that by throwing up some essential Farley clips from his glory days.
