Get Your Flannel Out, Because Soundgarden Is Back

Soundgarden2 Get Your Flannel Out, Because Soundgarden Is Back

Forget what you may know about Chris Cornell.  Soundgarden was a good band…especially, in the late 80′s/early 90′s. They mixed Black Sabbath’s slow grinding sludge rock with Zeppelin’s banshee wail and high octane rock. In 1998, they band broke up and Cornell released a middle of the road solo album. At the turn of the century Cornell hooked up with the musicians of the recently disbanded Rage Against The Machine to form the super group, Audioslave. Audioslave recorded 1 legitimately good album and 2 piles of feces and they broke up. Rage Against The Machine got back together and Cornell recorded another solo album that had a cover of Billy Jean on it. If there was an emoticon for shuddering, I’d use it here.

Cornell must have realized that Soundgarden was the only thing he was involved with that didn’t suck. The band (which also features current Pearl Jam drummer, Matt Cameron) will play shows in 2010 with CD reissues and a box set likely to follow.
