Let’s face it, the Presidency of the United States of America has lost some luster over the past 50 years with increased media scrutiny, partisan politics, lack of free time to unwind from the doldrums of the job, and of course, that Presidential “look and feel.” What do I mean, well when was the last time the White House played host to a President with facial hair? Oh you know what I’m getting at.
Here’s the Top 10 Presidential Looks according to the Captains:
#10 – Andrew Jackson: One of the first “I don’t give a shit the way I look” President’s evident by his overflowing locks of grey hair. A good leader to start of this list.
#9 – Ulysses S. Grant: An amazing beard that was rumored to have Chuck Norris type power’s makes Grant a lock for the 9 spot.
#8 – James Buchanan: A relative unknown in terms of Presidents, but his cool whip style white hair combined with whatever the hell he is rocking is good enough for number 8.
#7 – Theodore Roosevelt: The monocle, the mustache, the tie – this man meant business. Once set a world record for number of hands shook in one year. TR we shake your hand as number 7.
#6 – Martin Van Buren: Look at the old school blow out! Although his is not the originator of the Presidential blow out, Van Buren definitely made his case for being the most popular President to rock it.
#5 – Grover Cleveland: This may be foreseen an off choice for #5 compared to the other Presidents profiled above, but we ask you to analyze this pic below. Cleveland has the power mustache, the tight “I’ll end your shit” coat, and rocks the short lawyers hair cut with a massive widows peak. That may mean nothing to you, but Captain Yar wants to emulate this look in 20 twenty years.
#4 - Chester A. Arthur: If a man with tremendous sideburns such as Arthur was leading the country right now, there’d be no war, no hunger, no recession, etc. There’d be pretty much no issues. If you’re man enough to sport sideburns like this, no one will fuck with you. Arthur’s sideburns made it an easy choice for us to make him number 4.
#3 – Thomas Jefferson: One of our most popular Presidents and trend setters. Not only did he make interracial relationships cool, he also brought the blow out to America. The scraf adds a really nice touch, but the blow out has lived on past his demise making him grab the #3 spot on our list.
#2 – Abraham Lincoln: Wait, beard without a mustache? Unheard of at the time! Every little punk who rocks one of these now can thank Lincoln. The top hat too was quite a touch. The man was a walking, talking rock star in the way he presented himself and the Captain’s are adding another notch to his legacy – #2 on our list.
#1 – George Washington: The father of our country and our first President. Notice the powered wig – the first of only three to wear one in office. What’s usually overlooked on Washington are his sideburns. There pictured below and out in full force. The expressionless look is awesome as well because you don’t know what the man is thinking! Congrats George, you’re #1 on the list!
We hope you enjoyed our picks. If you have additional Presidents we missed, feel free to send us a note. The Captain’s believe that politics would be much easier on the people if the Presidential look was brought back into play.

Grover Cleveland looks list the Cheshire Cat. I’d also like to see the president bring back a monocle. Another great Top Ten list.
