Random Chris Farley Clip of the Day

A reader of this blog (who will go unmentioned) told me that they never really watched any Chris Farley movies growing up nor did they think he was funny. Blasphemy. Farley to me was a god growing up. His SNL clips and bit parts in movies were downright hilarious. While Will Ferrell has taken over for Farley after his untimely, stripper and coke-binged death in 1997, I feel like the man isn’t getting his due anymore. TCM is going to fix that by throwing up some essential Farley clips from his glory days.

Enjoy.

Lin Yung, the Saigon whore who bit my nose off! We’re getting hitched.

I have a sneaky suspicion that I am the unmentioned reader. if not, then there is someone else in this world who just does not understand the appeal of Chris Farley. Speaking of popular things that I just don’t understand…what’s the crazy obsession with The Goonies? I know it must be good because everyone loves it but I just don’t get it.

Their is so many things wrong with the comment above me that I don’t even know where to start.

seriously nora? The goonies thing is understandable, if you didn’t grow up watching it then you may not get it, but Chris Farley?! Are you trying to tell me you have not laughed at Tommy Boy?

  5. Nora says:

I think I hate the Goonies because growing up my sister and her friend would watch the part with the broken penis 15 times in a row and watch nothing else. As for Chris Farley, to me he’s just the poor mans John Belushi. I never watched the SNL’s that Farley was on. I was watching my mom’s old VHS tapes from the earlier years. I’ve seen Tommy Boy and Black Sheep and they are ok (better without David Spade) but again, to me they were never as good as Blues Brothers or Animal House. I understand that Belushi was dead and people were longing for a replacement and Chris Farley fit the bill physically and in his comedy. He’s good enough in bit parts like Billy Madison but I could do without anything beyond that.

  6. Captain Flintheart says:

I agree that Farley’s bit parts in movies are much funnier than watching him for a feature length film. However, this is what makes him perfect for SNL.

Sad fact – I saw “Beverly Hills Ninja” in the theatre. Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.

  8. drobotnickk says:

I was never a big fan of John Belushi, maybe it’s because I never saw animal house or Blues Brothers. He was alright on SNL but I think Chris Farley was much more entertaining. Nora, at least tell me you though Austin Powers was funny. If not, there may be trouble

  9. Nora says:

First Austin Powers was incredible, 2nd was good, 3rd was tolerable at best.

  10. Captain Polish says:

@ Nora – Not liking Chris Farley and having an obsession for Saved By The Bell is an avenue I’m not going to venture down at the moment. I agree with you on Austin Powers and thank god there was no #4.

One thing I will say on your Belushi comment is that every comedian steals from one and other. You find me a comedian that is completely original and I’ll tell you you’re full of shit.
